Marita's chosen nonprofit: Colorado Horse Rescue Network
Each artist we collaborate with selects a 501(c)(3) nonprofit to receive 10% of our company's profits from their designs at the end of each year. Marita has chosen Colorado Horse Rescue Network as her nonprofit!

Marita McDonough was born and raised in Portland, Oregon and now calls Berthoud, Colorado home. She has been drawing since she can remember, with a special fondness for horses. When her family arrived, she set painting aside in favor of calligraphy, and has taught the art of lettering over nearly 50 years.

When her girls were old enough to stay out of her art supplies, she returned to drawing — and found that all those years with a pen had only sharpened her eye and hand. She delights in graphite with colored pencils, ink, and occasionally water media. Marita is also a sculptor and hand-builder of functional pieces in porcelain clay, and accepts commissions for pet portraits in pencil and colored pencil.

When her husband Tom passed away in 2010, Marita moved to Colorado to be with her youngest daughter. She is now Mimi to seven delightful boys and girls, and her art can be seen at the pARTiculars Art Gallery in Lafayette and the Homestead Fine Art Gallery in Berthoud.

Marita brings a calligrapher's precision and a nature lover's appreciation to everything she draws. Her pet portrait commissions are sought after for a reason, and her sculptural work in porcelain clay shows the same careful hand! She is also someone who shows up for her community, her family, and her art, all at once.

We are so glad Marita is part of the ArtFair family, and we love sharing her work with the world.

Marita is still working on a website, but here is her bio page on the pARTiculars Gallery site (a local gallery here in Colorado). You can also visit her art at the Homestead Fine Art Gallery in Berthoud, Colorado.
