Meet Gary!
Artist, illustrator, biologist, and writer who believes science fiction gets the next generation excited about science fact.
Gary Raham is a talented artist, illustrator, biologist, and teacher. He writes science fact and science fiction, and is a firm believer that the latter often excites a new generation of scientists to discover more of the former.
Gary has won numerous awards for his books, articles, and artwork. His writing has been known to make a reader laugh and think simultaneously with no apparent deleterious effects. His most recent SF title is Not Quite Dead Geniuses at Large on an Angry Planet, a 2024 Colorado Book Award finalist.
In 2018 and 2019, Gary had an exhibit at the Loveland Museum entitled From Saur to Soar: The Synergy of Art and Science with paleontologist and sculptor Dennis Wilson. In 2021, he participated in the Eastern Connecticut State University exhibition, Precision: Illustrative Technique in Art and Science.

Gary's art, illustrations, and world 💛

Gary's work sits at a rare intersection of art and science. He illustrates things that most people have never seen and makes them feel immediately real and alive. Whether he is drawing a Spinosaurus or writing about scientists on an angry planet, the goal is always the same: make someone care about the natural world a little more than they did before.
We are so proud to have Gary as one of ArtFair Apparel's founding artists. His tees are some of the most scientifically detailed and genuinely joyful things we have ever put on a shirt.
